3. yeah that's pretty much the perfect description.
Gillick really had no choice though, looking at Phillies screwed up contracts.
4. It's a Philly thing. Compare the contracts Wade handed out to what Rizzo gave the unions in the seventies and you'll see a clear derivation.
5. Let's just hope that Gillick has a real rebuilding plan, as it would be ashame to see great players like Utley /Howard /Myer be forever stuck in a organization that keep screwing itself up...
