Athletics-Twins

The key isn’t hitting by Mauer,
Or finding occasional power
By Justin Morneauing;
It’s Oakland not knowing
Santana’s next miles-per-hour.

Cardinals-Padres

With Woody, Wells, Young after Peavy
And a ‘pen that is very releavy,
The Padres are deep.
So maybe a sweep
Is something not too unbeleavy.

Tigers-Yankees

This will get ugly, I fear.
Detroit will get kicked in the rear
Unless somehow Zumaya
Is the bullpen Messiah
Instead of Rivera this year.

Dodgers-Mets

It’s painful for Penny to throw.
They’re trusting a rookie in Kuo.
With pitching so brittle
The Dodgers are little
But wagers on Maddux and Lowe.

1.  but:

brad radke's arm is in tatters,
oakland has warmed up its batters,
will thomas and bradley
have twins thinking sadly,
that aces aren't all that matters?

and:

pedro cannot throw at all,
the mets are cool as the fall,
floyd, beltran, delgado
will need gimpy bravado,
cause this one looks too close to call.

i think you're right about the tigers and cards though.

2.  Ahahah, great post.

Can the free hacking Tigers
Score runs off the Wanger
and hold down 9 all star pop?
Who will be the washed up?
RJ or Kenny Rogers?

I think ur basically right though. basically Padres and Yankees will win easily, Dodger/Mets and Twins/A's will be a bit more tricky.

3.  come to think of it, i might want to substitute lines 3 and 4 of the first one with:

while silva and boof
stand as living proof

('cause i'm fickle, and i want to rhyme something with "boof")

toaster needs an edit function.

4.  The problem that faces the Dodgers,
Is the health of some of their codgers,
But if Penny comes through,
And Nomar does, too,
Then they might become World Series lodgers.

5.  I'm not good at limericks, but I can pen a haiku:

Zito wondering,
"The goddamn Tiger crap out
took all my voodoo."

6.  Mets versus Dodgers: veterans will win.
But I can't say which team, because all bets
Are off when we allow it to sink in
That Julio is older than the Mets.

Peavy/Carpenter: Here we go again
Unless we can dig up some funny stat
To focus on besides this rematch. When
You do, let me know, and good luck with that.

The Tigers may already have their backs
Against the wall, considering their slide.
They'll have to face the Yankees and the facts:
Be prepared for a short and bumpy ride.

But let me say, before I go banana
How much I still "love our Johan Santana".
