2007 Photo Outtakes: A’s File Papers To Fly South

The Oakland Athletics and the City of Fremont both issued announcements today that the A’s had finally submitted their development plans for the Cisco Field ballpark village.
I’m sure you will all want to immediately download the development application document, and turn directly to page 69, where you can, at long last, get that detailed map you have been so anxiously awaiting of the existing sewer lines in the ballpark area.
The process moves forward now with a 12-to-18 month debate over how to mitigate the impact on all the displaced ninja turtles.
1. Coincidentally, 12 to 18 months is about how long it takes to drive down the Nimitz from Oakland to Fremont.
2. ...or get across town from the Fremont BART station.
3. 2 Oddly enough, that's actually kinda true.
Not the months part, but it's actually a greater distance from one end of Fremont to the other (about 14 miles) than it is from the Oakland border to the Fremont border (about 11 miles).
It's about 22.5 miles from the old ballpark to the new one. It's about 7 miles from the new ballpark to the Fremont BART station.
4. Did the A's ever do a study on how many folks from San Francisco came over when Candlestick was like utter death to get to and park in and the A's stadium was a quick and convenient ride on the BART? I'm a dedicated NL guy, but I love watching baseball more than just the NL; I went to A's games ALL THE TIME because of that. It's like the two cities have completely switched the ease of access to their respective stadiums. It's kind of uncanny.
